Packaging Material Specialist Manager




Proach is looking for a Packaging Material Specialist Manager for a company in the paper sector, located in the region of La Garrotxa.


Coordinate the mill R&D in order to develop new products and optimise the current ones, including analysis of raw materials and additives, all in coordination with production and quality departments.

Main responsabilities:

  • Coordinate and organise the R&D, planning and execution of tests requested by the mill, raw materials and other process issues.
  • Develop new products and processes according to the needs of the Company. Plan, coordinate and control, when requested, the testing of new products that are applicable to the manufacturing stages to obtain a reduction in costs and/or improve quality.
  • Carry out comparative technical studies between own products and those of the competition, new qualities, quality improvement, if necessary, in the laboratory and/or the pilot plant.
  • Study and propose alternative processes for improving quality, reducing costs and minimising environmental impact.
  • Follow up, evaluate and provide technical support for the trials and tests carried in the mill, and then issue the corresponding reports.
  • Provide support to other factories with instrumental and analytical techniques with a view to solving technical problems or trials if is requested and validated by the Mill Director.
  • Collaborate with technical support relating to approved products (raw materials, etc.), list of approved suppliers and purchase specifications.
  • Ensure order, cleanliness, safety and hygiene in the section.
  • Collaborate with the People & Talent department in all tasks inherent with people management within the plant, such as staff hiring and departures, leave, holidays, etc.
  • Safeguard and ensure the correct application of current legislation on quality, H&S, environment, energy efficiency, chain of custody and others that may be relevant, as well as internal regulations and group operating instructions for those aspects that apply to their area of responsibility.


Professional profile required:

  • Chemical Engineering / PhD or degree.
  • Experience in laboratory, research and investigation.
  • Instrumental analysis, patents and documentation search.
